Building a dashboard in Cano Analytics takes just a few minutes, and once it’s set up you can keep it polished with easy rename, duplicate, and archive controls. This guide walks you through creating a dashboard from scratch, customizing it to fit your workflow, and using the management tools that keep your workspace organized as your team grows.

Create a New Dashboard

1

Open the Dashboards section

Click Dashboards in the left sidebar of your Cano workspace. This opens the dashboard list, where all of your team’s dashboards appear.
2

Start a new dashboard

Click + New Dashboard at the top right of the list. Enter a name for your dashboard — choose something descriptive so teammates can find it quickly. Optionally add a description to explain what the dashboard tracks and who it’s for.
3

Choose a starting layout

Select one of the layout options presented:
  • Blank — start with an empty canvas and build every chart yourself.
  • Starter template — pick a pre-built template (see Dashboard Templates below) and customize it from there.
Click Create Dashboard to continue.
4

Add your first chart

Click the + Add Chart button in the top-right corner of the chart grid. The chart picker panel opens on the right side of the screen.
5

Configure each chart

For each chart you add, choose a chart type, select the event you want to measure, and set an aggregation method and optional filters. See Charts & Widgets for a full breakdown of every chart type and query option.
6

Save your dashboard

Click Save in the top-right header. Cano auto-saves chart changes as you work, but pressing Save commits the dashboard layout and any unsaved edits.

Edit or Rename a Dashboard

To rename a dashboard, click directly on the dashboard name in the header — it becomes an editable text field. Type your new name and press Enter or click anywhere outside the field to confirm. To edit the dashboard description, open the Settings panel by clicking the three-dot menu (⋯) at the top right of the dashboard and selecting Dashboard Settings. Update the description and click Save.

Duplicate a Dashboard

Duplicating is useful when you want to create a variation of an existing dashboard without modifying the original.
  1. From the dashboard list, hover over the dashboard you want to copy.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋯) that appears on the right.
  3. Select Duplicate.
  4. Cano creates an exact copy named “Copy of [original name]” — rename it immediately to avoid confusion.
All charts, filters, and layout settings are carried over. The duplicate is independent of the original, so changes to one do not affect the other.

Archive or Delete a Dashboard

Archiving removes a dashboard from the main list without permanently deleting it. Deleted dashboards cannot be recovered. To archive:
  1. Open the three-dot menu (⋯) from the dashboard list or the dashboard header.
  2. Select Archive Dashboard.
  3. The dashboard moves to the Archived tab in your dashboard list. You can unarchive it at any time.
To delete:
  1. Open the three-dot menu (⋯) and select Delete Dashboard.
  2. Confirm the deletion in the dialog that appears.
Deleting a dashboard is permanent. All charts and configurations inside it are removed and cannot be restored. Archive instead if you think you might need it later.

Dashboard Templates

Cano ships with a set of starter templates designed around common analytics use cases. Starting from a template saves you the time of building the initial chart layout from scratch.
Start with a template even if you plan to customize heavily — it’s much faster to delete charts you don’t need than to build a full layout from zero. Templates also follow Cano’s best-practice chart configurations, so they’re a good reference for how to structure your own queries.

Next Steps

Once your dashboard is ready, control who can view or edit it by configuring access settings.

Sharing & Permissions

Share your dashboard with teammates, generate public links, and set up scheduled email reports.
